Great Reviews in Courier Post!

Sweet T's Has now been open for 3 1/2 months, and we are kicking butt! Chrissy and I are super busy making awesome cupcakes and specialty cakes. Some of the new flavors we have been whipping up are:  Blackberry Cabernet
French Toast
Apple Bacon Maple Pancake
Green Tea Honey Lemon
Orange Almond Poppy
Chocolate Stout

I can't forget to mention our Signature flavor, Blueberry Velvet! People are loving this flavor and can not get enough! Please come and check out what we have been baking!

We Passed Inspection!!

Please come out Wednesday, December 7th, 2011. Sweet T's Bakeshop will finally be open!

After two extra weeks of hard work and planning around our new oven situation we passed our health inspections and building inspection as of this morning! This means we have the go ahead to open our store!

The place really looks amazing! It started out as a tiny 400 sq. foot room. We knew it was going to be tight, but perfect to start. With the help of dad, planning and re-planning the layout, and building beautiful counters and cabinet and work tables. An making every inch count. The place looks remarkable! It's so much more spacious than I every imagined it would be. I love it so much. He made us bead board counters with butcher block tops, and an island work table with a gorgeous marble table top! He has really turned my dream of this bakery into a reality and I am very grateful. Also, my mom has been a huge help in every part and every decision we have made along the way. She has been there for each step, and has helped us through some tough calls. Not to mention her waking up at 4 am with thoughts of the bakery every morning and not being able to fall back asleep! My sister and I are so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends that are so willing to help. Susan and Michael have also put in a great deal of time, especially Susan and her dish washing skills. James, Thank you for all of your hard work. We could not have done this with out all you. Thank you all so much!

Oven Catastrophe

I am very very sorry, but Sweet T's will not be opening this Friday due to some equipment troubles : (. We had ordered an electric oven to fit our small Bakeshop and avoid any intense health or township regulations, but somehow the people who ordered us our oven seemed to order gas by accident. To be honest, I would much rather have a gas oven for economic and cooking purposes, but the electric just seemed like the easy ticket. Call it a " Blessing in Disguise," but now we have the gas oven, we just have to make it work somehow. This is the reason we will not be ready to open this coming week. I am keeping my fingers crossed for next Friday, the very first week in December.

Please stay posted and come for our ribbon cutting. I will be sure to keep everyone updated.

Opening the Shop!

As of November 25th, 2011, Sweet T's Bakeshop will not only be accessible online, but it will be a retail shop! My dreams of having my own store are about to come true. My sister Chrissy and I are opening our shop at 7 Kings Court in Haddonfield, NJ.

I am extremely excited and anxious to get the doors open. Sweet T's will be serving a variety of baked treats such as Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, muffins, scones as well as some different treats like Cake in a Jar and bite size Cake Bombs!

I've been developing recipes and ideas for the past 3 years, and can finally showcase them in my store and share them with everyone!

The store will be open on Black Friday. Ribbon cutting is set for 10am. Santa will also be in Kings Court the night of the 25th. I am hoping he will bring a large crowd to Sweet T's.

February Flashback

I guess you could say February was a busy month for me. I did a handful of cakes as well as some special things for Valentine's Day. This poker cake was a blast to do. However, I am used to using an edible image printer for things such as playing cards. This time I painted them by hand! Luckily I had the time to do it. An edible image printer uses edible ink and prints on a thin sheet of rice paper. This is how photos of people are usually translated onto cakes and can be used to make things very life like. Can't wait to get my hands on one of those : ).

This small Batman cake was for a birthday party, but once again, where is that edible image machine when you need it! I actually kind of like the way it looks hand painted. I used food coloring, so everything is edible!

Here are some of the specialty items I made for Valentine's Day. Cake Pops were a huge hit. They are just so tasty. It's one or two bites of cake and frosting mixed together. This makes it moist and chocolaty on the inside and the coating of white chocolate on the outside gives a crunchy contrast. So good. They come in other flavors, but I am convinced that nothing gets better than the chocolate ones.

Just a couple more cakes I did to conclude the month of February. The beach themed cake was a special cake made for a very close family friend to celebrate her 80th birthday. She loves Ocean City, so this seemed to fit the theme nicely. Everything is edible on the cake including the sea shells, chair and umbrella! It was chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache filling!

Cooking for Kids Sake

Cooking for Kids Sake is a Charity event hosted by Big Brothers /Big Sisters organization of Burlington, Camden, and Gloucster Counties. This was a tasting event that featured some of the top restaurants in the South Jersey area. I was one of the vendors and located in the "Celebrity Chefs" corner alongside Ed Battaglia from Hell's Kitchen!

I made a variety of different bite size goodies including salted caramel bars, my signature blueberry velvet cupcakes, flourless chocolate cake, cinnamon dulce, chocolate cherry cordial and chocolate PB cupcakes and cake pops. The peoples response to my table was excellent. I think everyone was impressed with not only the presentation, but the delicious taste. Blueberry Velvet was a total hit!

I met a lot of great people and made a lot of great connections that night. Cooking for Kids' Sake was such a wonderful event. It's good to know that people can be so giving and supportive of the children in need in our country. I was happy that I could be a part of something so great!

Snowed In!

I've been back East now for a little over a month and I think it has snowed at least 10 times! Last week they were calling for 10-15 inches of snow! I decided to make use of my time in the house and do something constructive.

I have been getting ready for a charity event that I will be sharing a taste of my bakery with at least 300 people. I will have a table located in the "Celebrity Chefs" corner! I've never done an event like this, and I wanted to be prepared and look professional with my table display. One of the first things I need is a cake dummy to showcase on my table so that people will know my the services that I provide.

I love making sugar flowers. It is very time consuming and tedious, but perfect for a snow day. It took me most of the day to make just the flowers!

I then covered three styrofoam cake dummies with fondant and proceeded to decorate it as if it were a real wedding cake. The great thing about fake cakes is they last for years! I really wanted this cake to look nice on my table display, so I spent extra time making sure details were perfect.
Thanks to my being snowed in, I was able to be creative without worrying about deadlines!
