Cake for Breakfast Anyone?

I was asked to make a baby shower cake for a faculty gathering at one of the NJ Elementry schools. Just a morning get together for the teachers to celebrate a fellow co-worker. I wanted to make it super nice, because I just moved back to NJ from Los Angeles and am starting to build a following. So I start thinking...First off, they are going to be eating this cake at 9 am! That's so early. What can I create in a highly decorated cake that can be considered somewhat of a breakfast?

I was out running one morning, as usual, (This is where I normally come up with all of my crazy ideas!), and I thought to myself, how about Crumb cake as a layer cake? Definatley needs cream cheese frosting, and maybe some kind of fresh fruit, like blueberries or strawberries. After all this thinking, I had to do it. I didn't see this idea going wrong at all.  So after experimenting I came up with this, and it was scrumptious!

After the flavor discovery, it was time to make it into a designed cake. It is for a girl, and the theme of her room is butterflies and flowers in the colors of pink and lavender.  Like I said earlier, I wanted to go above and beyond with this cake. You can sort of call it a freebie, for future business. But the end result turned out pretty nice. I also heard that everyone was very excited about it at the shower!
